Possums Do It Again!

Going into the 5th inning the GG Possums were losing and it didn’t look good for them. Already with 5 errors and losing 21-15 things weren’t looking too good. Then the bats woke up. Shutting down their opponents the Body Slammers in the 6th and scoring 5 unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth. As time was getting short the 7th inning started with the Body Slammers taking advantage of another Possum error for 3 more runs. But that didn’t stop the Possums as they fought back with some key hits and a walk to set up a two run single by Stan to win the ball game 25-24. Stars of the game were OT who went 4 for 4 with 4 runs and 3 RBI, Dominic 4 fo 5 with 4 runs and 5 RBI, the General 5 for 5 with 3 runs and 2 RBI, and once again De La Cruz going 4 for 5 with 3 runs and 3 RBI. Next weeks ball game returns to El Camino Park with an early 6:30 PM game against the Young Punks with the Possums as the home team.

Possums Dominate Their Way to 4-1!

Another week in the books and another victory for the Garden Grove Possums! Tonight the Possums were able to fend off the Hitmen in a 2408 rout. The hit parade was lead by Mike Carrasco would had 9 RBIs to go along with his 4 hits in 4 at-bats. Others with 4 hits for the night were Stotelmeyer, Mentele, and DeLaCruz, who all went 4-5. Possum defense also continued to shine as no errors were made around the horn and the infield defense was stellar with great plays by Stan, The General, and Dom. Hippie painted the corners all night while pitching, keeping the Hitmen on their toes as he threw strike after strike and only walked one batter. The game ended on an exceptional grab by Jason Bergin diving into foul territory on a tailing fly ball down the left field line!

Next weeks game is at 9:15 PM, please be advised that the game is at a new location! Shaffer Park, in Orange, click on the link for a map and directions.

Also we are planning to have a practice this Sunday morning at 8:00 AM, at El Camino, see you there!

Possums Win First Game of Season

The bats were flying as the Possums took the first game of the season 29-20 against the Young Punks. The GG Possums were playing like a well oiled machine as they scored 6 runs of more in 3 of the 5 innings of play. Unfortunately the score keeping was worse then usual and I don’t have proper information on the stars of the game. But every Possum got a hit on the way to victory. Also the infield/outfield practice on Sunday morning paid off as a multitude of exceptional plays were made out in the field, including a diving grab by Jason Bergin, way to go BERGY!

Possums Finish 2007 Spring Season on Low Note

The GG Possums finished the 2007 Spring Season on a low note dropping the last three games, two by mercy and the last one by way of forfeit.  But that didn’t stop them as some of the team showed up this last Saturday for practice.  Another practice is planned this upcoming Saturday at Hart Park, 9:00 AM.  Let’s be ready for the 2007 Summer Season!

Tough Loss

With the lowest runs scored of the season the Garden Grove Possums fell to 4-4 with a loss to the Mickey’s Hornets 12-27. Nothing worked for the Possums as they failed to get key hits through out the mercy shortened 5 inning game. The Hornet’s put their single wall on as they dinked in 32 hits through the infield of the Possums with their lone metal single wall bat.

Next week the Possums play at 6:30.
